Serving Homeschool Families since 1985

"INSTRUCT THEM TO DO GOOD, TO BE RICH IN GOOD WORKS, TO BE GENEROUS
AND READY TO SHARE, STORING UP FOR THEMSELVES A GOOD FOUNDATION FOR THE FUTURE,
SO THAT THEY MAY TAKE HOLD OF THAT WHICH IS LIFE INDEED. "

1 TIMOTHY 6:18-19

About Us

Firm Foundation Christian Academy
, formerly Sonrise Christian PSP, has been serving homeschool families since 1985. Our purpose is to provide you with a strong sense of community in which you and your children will be able to flourish and thrive. Along with record keeping and optional testing, we offer opportunities for educational advancement, social interaction, spiritual growth, and creative expression.

Educational
Philosophy

It is our philosophy that the ideal learning situation for a child is comprised of four basic elements:

  • One-on-one teaching, or a teacher/student ratio that is as low as possible.
  • Individualized curriculum devised for the student to learn at his or her own rate.
  • A supportive, non-stressful environment.
  • A loving, caring relationship between the student and teacher

We feel that the home meets these criterion as the ideal learning environment.

Spiritual
Philosophy

As Christian parents, we feel that it is our duty before God to develop in our children a Christian worldview.

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul
and with all your might.  And these words, which I am commanding you today,
shall be on your heart; and you shall teach them diligently to your children and shall talk of them when
you sit in your house and when you walk by the way and when you lie down and when you rise up."
- Deuteronomy 6:5-7

All Scriptural instructions regarding children are given only to parents; and, as such, we are challenged to meet this responsibility

Building of Character

We wish to support parents in building a strong moral foundation based on Scriptural principles that will enable the child to meet the challenges and conflicts he or she will encounter in life.

“Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not turn from it."
                                                                           Proberbs 22:6

Statement of Faith

Firm Foundation Christian Academy affirms that God is the source of all knowledge, truth and virtue, and it is to Him that we must look as we work to educate the total individual.  This knowledge and truth is revealed to humanity generally through His creation, and specifically through His revelation in historical events, particularly in the life of Jesus Christ.  We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God given by the Holy Spirit and that it is an authoritative and accurate revelation of God’s will and purpose for human lives.  As such, instruction in the Old and New Testament Scriptures should be an integral part of the educational process.

Firm Foundation Christian Academy affirms that there is an essential unity in all truth.  That Truth may be perceived through a variety of human disciplines, the artistic, scientific and theological.  The goal of education should be the integration of knowledge discovered by human inquiry with knowledge revealed specially by the Creator.

Firm Foundation Christian Academy affirms that all men have sinned before God and as sinners deserve condemnation.  Man’s only hope for salvation is for him to obey Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior in faith, and having been united with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection and to live in response to His will.  We, therefore, believe that it is our duty and privilege to tell everyone that Jesus is the Son of God and that, as a result of His death on the cross, His burial, and His resurrection from the dead, we can have eternal life.

Firm Foundation Christian Academy affirms that God has entrusted the training and education of children to their parents.  As a school, we see ourselves as an extension of the home to be used only as an aid in the child’s training.
